Box Office Charts: w/e 12 September 2008

Friday 12 September 2008
In the US: It was a very poor week at the movies in the States, with every film in the top 10 doing less than $10m of business! Nicolas Cage's latest, "Bangkok Dangerous", stole #1 away from Tropic Thunder in its opening week, as the week's only new release.

US TOP 10

(-) 1. Bangkok Dangerous $7.78m
(1) 2. Tropic Thunder $7.23m
(3) 3. The Dark Knight $5.52m [review]
(4) 4. The House Bunny $5.51m
(5) 5. Traitor $4.27m
(2) 6. Babylon A.D $4.18m
(6) 7. Death Race $3.71m
(7) 8. Disaster Movie $3.03m
(8) 9. Mamma Mia! $2.86m
(9) 10. Pineapple Express $2.26m

In the UK: Guy Ritchie's "comeback" movie "RocknRolla" goes straight in at #1... Keira Knightley's latest costume drama "The Duchess" does well to debut at #3... "Disaster Movie" doesn't break the £1m barrier, but still manages a fairly respectable #5 (what happened there, people?!)... and as "Bangkok Dangerous" debuts at #1 in the States, it totally flops in the UK at #10!
