TV Ratings: Lost (Sky1)

Monday 15 February 2010

The third episode of Lost's final season, "What Kate Does", managed 614,000 viewers on Friday night for Sky1, down from the two-part premiere's highs of 830,000 and 728,000 the week before, but that's still a decent slice of the audience pie.

At this stage, it really doesn't matter what the ratings are like for Lost (if it ever did in the UK), but it's interesting to note these numbers because: (a) it gives a fun indication of how many people are interested in seeing how the show ends, and (b) as a series that's always been popular for piracy, it's interesting to see if Sky's intention to curb that trend by airing episodes three days after the US is having any effect on viewership.

Of course, I still think Sky will only see a truly noticeable increase in ratings if they air shows within 24-hours of the US, particularly in the case of Lost -- which can be spoiled very easily, and 72-hours is a long time online.
